Singer-songwriter Constanza is a Chilean singer living in Belgium.
After studying political science, she entered the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel to study jazz singing and pursue her path to music. She also trained in South American folklore and popular music in Argentina, Brazil and Cuba.
Born in a family of intellectuals and artists, music has always been present since her childhood. And it was by meeting "cantautores" (Latin American singer-songwriters) that, encouraged by them, Constanza began to write her own songs in Spanish and Portuguese and to record albums.
She has performed on various national and international stages (ChilEuropa Jazz Festival in Chile, La Habana Festival in Cuba, Leuven Jazz, Muziekpublique, etc...) and has collaborated with many artists of the world and jazz scene (Guillermo García de Quilapayún, Pierre Van Dormael, Jeanfrançois Prins, Tuur Florizoone, ...).
She also teaches singing at Muziekpublique, at the Marcel Désiron Academy in Amay and at the Royal International Summer Academy in Libramont and regularly gives masterclasses in Belgium and abroad.
Her latest album "Melodías del Instante" was released on the Gam Music label in 2022 (GAM 1703).
"Constanza, it is an impressive voice which will give you goosebumps... She walks from the low to the high notes with an ease and a disconcerting naturalness.
Coming from a Chilean family, she takes her cultural origins and mixes them with various musical influences such as jazz or Brazilian music to offer a music that makes her truly unique on the current European scene.
In her new album "melodías del instante"; which was released in February 2022, she presents original compositions that have been arranged by the accordionist Tuur Florizoone, also a member of the group.
It is a particular universe where Constanza translates her search for a woman songwriter and her militant attachment to "beauty"; with themes that are dear to her such as nature, exile, the invisible, or love.
On this album, she is surrounded by renowned musicians such as Victor da Costa on guitar and cavaquinho, Tuur Florizoone on accordion, and Stephan Pougin on percussion. Together and each one, with their own singular musical language, form a very lively quartet where improvisation and expression are put forward in
an original way. "
